Litewave Media’s new lighting addition, K5600 Joker-Bug 800 kit with accessories

The Joker 800 has the ability to produce 50% more light than other daylight fixtures, including the Joker 1200. The light is small and light (it only weights 38lbs!) which makes it perfect for on-location lighting and traveling. While the many 1200 watt fixtures takes an entire circuit to power, the Joker 800 only draws 11 Amps!

The Joker 800 has many benefits of smaller lights, but with the power of larger fixtures, which has made the K5600 Joker-Bug 800 an industry standard HMI light and a perfect addition to our Tampa lighting rental. We look forward to using it on many shoots to come and renting it out to anyone looking to add a little extra punch to their productions!

Litewave Media Films Legendary Comedian Elayne Boosler

Litewave Media Films Legendary Comedian Elayne Boosler

Litewave Media loves comedy. We’ve always tried to incorporate humor into our work since we started over 10 years ago; and so, it was an absolute joy to work with one of comedy’s greats last month, Elayne Boosler.

Elayne is a legendary female comedian who has been in the business for almost 40 years. In 1986, she changed the comedy industry when she became the first female comedian to get her own one-hour comedy special on cable. She has written and hosted several awards shows including the Daytime Emmys and the Cable ACE awards. She has also been a guest for a variety of Late Night shows. Our Tampa video production company was extremely excited when the manager of comedian Elayne Boosler hired Litewave Media to film Elayne’s new stand-up comedy act.

The live event took place at the historic theater inside Delray Beach’s Center for the Arts. The event was sold out, and people from around the country came to see Elayne perform. Our Tampa video production crew scouted the location a week earlier to map out camera positions and assess the lighting setup. On Jan 27th, our team arrived early to Delray Beach, Florida in the morning to set up the equipment for the live show. We enjoyed the opportunity to meet Elayne before her performance and review the plan of action. And once she went on, the crowd did not stop laughing for the next hour as she delivered a flawless performance!

The live comedy performance was filmed with 5 broadcast HD cameras from our array Tampa video equipment. Christian Cashmir was the director of photography and operated a Panasonic HPX-170 video camera that was mounted on Litewave Media’s EZ-FX camera jib. Kenny Strawn worked the Panasonic HPX-500 camera to get all the close up shots of Elayne. John Jones went hand-held and filmed a variety of creative angles from the performance. Brandon Hyde shot with an HVX-200 camera to cover the wide shots of the comedy act and Malachi Cull also operated another HVX-200 camera from the balcony. Harold “Pinky” Hood acted as grip and assistant for the shoot. Mike Barnitt captured sound on 6 discreet channels for optimum surround sound mixing. The footage was sent off to David Avallone, Elayne’s longtime editor and producer, to edit the special together in Los Angeles, CA.

The stand-up comedy show will be edited into a DVD, and she hopes to air it on premium cable and on-demand in the near future. Litewave Media was extremely honored to film with Elayne and we wish her all the best for the rest of her tour. Our crew had a blast traveling to Delray Beach, Florida, and we hope Elayne comes back to Florida soon to perform again (maybe even to Tampa?!)

Litewave Media Films Training Workout Video Series for Renegade Soccer

Litewave Media Films Training Workout Video Series for Renegade Soccer

Happy 2015! We hope everyone is enjoying the new year so far. A common New Years’ resolution is to get back into shape, after the holidays and so the Litewave Media film team decided to start working on this goal with the help of Renegade Soccer’s Training Videos. Our Tampa video production company  filmed a soccer training DVD series with co-founders Billy and J.R. from Renegade Soccer. We filmed a total of 12 discs with content that included ball technique tutorials as well as fitness training with some top soccer athletes from around the country.

The soccer workouts and exercises were filmed at our Tampa video production studio. We used three Panasonic P2 video cameras to get a variety of angles on the talent. We also used our 10 foot EZ FX Jib to incorporate more dynamic shots. To light the studio, we used a combination of Kino Flo lights and our new state-of-the-art Altman LED Cyc lights which have the ability to change colors without the use of gel. The soccer workout team decided to use a blue look to unify the branding of the DVD.

Christian (Litewave Media founder) operated the first camera which was mounted on the jib, Kenny Strawn was in charge of the second camera and Harold “Pinky” Hood worked the third camera handheld. Jeff Zampino acted as script supervisor and Mike Barnett captured audio. Ana Christina Sanchez worked as production assistant. It was a long three days of soccer workouts, but we captured a lot of great footage. At the end of the shoot our Tampa production crew even got to try the workout…(we didn’t last very long, but it was fun!)

Our Tampa post production company edited the DVD for Renegade Soccer, which will be available later this year for purchase. The Litewave Media crew will keep working hard and hopefully make lots of “goals” this year…we hope to make Pelé proud!

Litewave Media Produces Series of Videos for Sims Crane

Litewave Media Produces Series of Videos for Sims Crane

Our Tampa video production studio had the unique opportunity to work alongside Sims Crane & Equipment Co. to produce their reality show “Heavy Lifting” which gives viewers an inside look at the crane industry. Sims Crane is Florida’s premier Crane and Equipment provider and partnered with Litewave Media to make their vision a reality. Litewave Media also produced a series of training videos at their Tampa location. The entire project spanned a total of over 20 videos.

With a number of reality shows under their production belts, including ABC’s Shark Tank, TLC’s Extreme Couponing, and the Cayman Island’s Paradise Pawnthe award-winning Litewave Media film crew brought their expertise to the “Heavy Lifting” film set. The crew explored the daily trials of Sims’ crane operators, from erecting entire buildings to lifting whales at a theme park.

When Sims Crane first contacted our Tampa video production company, we set up a series of meetings to plan the logistics of the shoot. Director and cinematographer Christian Cashmir alongside producer Andrew Ortoski collaborated with Sims Crane’s director of marketing, Dean Sims on the creative direction for the show.

With the use of GoPro Hero 3, the Litewave Media camera crew was able to film stunning overhead shots of the crane’s movements. Other video production equipment including the Canon C100, 2 Panasonic HVX200’s, 1 Panasonic HPX-170, and a Canon 5D Mark III were used for filming.

Camera operators Christian Cashmir, Taylor Girard, John Jones, and Andrew Ortoski captured all of the action, while Jeff Zampino scripted the show along with Dean Sims. Mike Barnitt and Tom Hurxthal handled audio and Jamie Parslow served as grip. Christian Cashmir and Andrew Ortoski edited and tackled post-production work at Litewave Media’s Tampa post-production company.

Sims Crane also teamed up with our Tampa video crew in creating a number of training videos on crane safety called “Sims Crane Minutes”. These educational videos inform viewers on how cranes function and the potential dangers of operating a crane. Several of the videos were even selected by O.S.H.A. as official crane safety and training videos.

These safety videos were a unique opportunity for Litewave Media to get creative with Sims Crane. One video had the distinct style of “Film Noir”, beginning the video in black and white, as if it were an old-style detective movie. Andrew Ortoski created dramatic lighting and even simulated a thunderstorm in the rain. Candace LeRae was the beautiful femme fatale actress who brought the scene to life along with Sims Crane’s very own Safety Director, Bob Berry. The scene was shot in the Sims Crane headquarters in Tampa, Florida.

Litewave Media also produced another training video for Sims in the style of ABC’s hit TV series “Lost”. The video makes an homage to the Dharma Initiative videos within the series and was filmed as if they were found on an old film reel.

Fantastic Sams + Litewave Media = Fantastic Media Commercials!

Fantastic Sams + Litewave Media = Fantastic Media Commercials!

When it comes to Fantastic Sams, the client chooses their hairstyle. In the case of their advertising though, Fantastic Sams sought out Litewave Media and their award-winning Tampa film crew to write, shoot, cast and edit a series of national quality TV commercials.

Litewave Media’s veteran Tampa video production company brought their comedic expertise to the project to create some truly unique commercials. Writer Jeff Zampino scribed three scripts, and director Christian Schwier along with the Fantastic Sams marketing team chose two which eventually became the “Night Owl” commmercial featuring a vampire who is in dire need of a haircut and the “3 Color Days” commercial featuring a Snidely Whiplash type character set in the 1920’s.

Larry The Vampire!

The Litewave Media team combined with the technology of their newly acquired Canon C100 camera, produced exceptional results. The commercials were filmed over a series of 3 days at the Litewave Media video studio‘s backlot and two Fantastic Sams locations. Video editing and special FX compositing took place at Litewave Media’s Tampa post production facility.

Tampa TV Commercial Production Actors

Actors Ed Olson and Serrelle Baker in “3 Color Days

The first of the two scripts promotes Fantastic Sams “3 Color Days” special, and takes place in the 1920’s and features a Snidely Whiplash character. Christian and his Tampa video company decided to give a vintage film treatment to this commercial. It begins in black and white then shifts to color when the female lead goes to Fantastic Sams to brighten up her style. The second script focuses on the salon’s late night hours and highlights characters who can only visit during the night. The main character is a friendly vampire…who needs his hair done, just like everybody else.
